On May 6th, 2023, AI startup DeepMind announced that it had raised $50 million in a Series B funding round led by a group of investors including Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins. The London-based company, which specializes in deep learning and artificial intelligence, said the funds would be used to accelerate research and development in the field of AI, as well as to expand its team. DeepMind has made significant contributions to the field of AI, including creating the AlphaGo program which defeated the world champion at the ancient Chinese game of Go in 2016.
